Renée Jones is a counselor and coach specializing in overcoming emotional eating. She spent 40 years on the Diet Yo-Yo, learning every diet — and every cheat — and emotional eating sabotaged every diet she’d tried. When she was staring down her fiftieth birthday in 2012, and her New Year’s Resolution was once again to lose weight, she realized something had to change. It took some time, and a little help, but she finally found a way to overcome her emotional eating.
“My mantra was ‘Face your stuff; don’t stuff your face’.”
She hit her goal weight the week before her birthday, losing that last 30 pounds AGAIN, but this time she has maintained her ideal health and weight.
While Renée lost her weight on a low-fat, low-calorie (no-flavor) diet, she was able to maintain the loss only through grit and determination—and more starvation. After two years of struggling, she was tired, hungry, and cranky all the time. Then she stumbled onto information about incorporating more fat into her diet and reducing carbohydrates. Hmmmmm. In 2015, she found the ketogenic lifestyle and Carrie Brown’s recipes. After adapting, she suddenly realized she no longer had dark mood swings or that afternoon energy dip.
“I didn’t know how bad I felt until I felt so very good on keto’”
Now she helps others who have struggled with their weight to get free of their emotional eating and offload emotional baggage so their hearts can heal along with their bodies. She has a Master’s degree in Counseling with certifications in both traditional and contemporary models as well as Horse-Assisted and relaxation methods. Her international counseling and coaching practice serves clients and colleagues in the U. S., United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, India, South Africa, Romania, Australia, and New Zealand.
