An Ice Cream Crawl

A couple of months ago I joined the effervescent Jessica from Ricochet Biscuits for an ice cream crawl.  This is much the same as a pub crawl except that it is conducted during daylight hours, does not need a taxi to get home and doesn’t involve slurred speech, necessarily.  Sadly, because this was a couple of months ago now, the details are a little blurry in my mind – not unlike the after effects of a pub crawl; the only difference being that with a pub crawl those after effects are immediate.  Had I jotted this down within a week or two of that fabulous Friday I’d have still been thinking clearly;  I would have had a lot more to say than “Awesome!”.  I am extremely remiss.  There was no jotting.

There was ice cream from Bluebird.  Dished up for us by Mike, the man with the incredible smile, who eats ice cream for breakfast out of a cup.  I watched him.  He totally *loves* his job.

Mike gave us Chocolate Pudding and CB’s Peanut Butter Ice Creams, and a big old tub full of thick, gooey Fudge Sauce.  Oh, happy Friday!  That CB’s Peanut Butter Ice Cream?  Smooth as you could imagine ice cream ever being able to be.

The lovely folks over at Molly Moon’s gave us Scout Mint Ice Cream and Strawberry Rhubarb Sorbet.  Oh my.  The Strawberry Rhubarb Sorbet was spectacular.  And I am always in line for anything that involves mint.

We made sundaes, adding little accoutrements such as Theo Chocolates Candied Cocoa Nibs.  I am counting the minutes down until these babies are launched in their store.  So far I have only come up with 2,473 uses for these crunchy little pieces of pure divinity.  This assumes that I can get any to the ‘use’ stage before I eat them.  That is highly questionable.  I daydream about them.  Constantly.  I am still kicking myself for letting Jessica take the bag home with her.  What was I thinking??  Clearly, I wasn’t.

We threw on KuKuRuZa Gourmet Popcorn.  I was sceptical.  Popcorn is popcorn, right?  No.  No, popcorn is only popcorn if you’ve never had it from a KuKuRuZa store.  When they say gourmet they mean popcorn like you’ve never had before.

We sprinkled coconut and flaked chocolate.

I don’t know what else to tell you other than it was an entirely fabulous Friday.  Oh, and that I *highly* recommend a mini road trip to pick up all these bits and bobs to make your own special treats.

Happy, happy Sundae!
