She made me a Pie

I have never met Nancy, and up until last Tuesday(ish) I didn’t even know Nancy existed.  But I can tell you that I love her already.  She made me a Pecan Pie.  It was the best Pecan Pie I have ever eaten.

Having baked professionally from the age of 13 I can count on one hand the number of times since then that someone has made me a cake, or a pie or any kind of pastry come to think of it.  So I was very excited for & very humbled by this pie.

Charlie, Nancy’s husband, told me that it was made from scratch last night & that he watched Nancy roll out the crust (basically butter, flour & love) and toast the pecans before they were baked into the pie.  The filling was made with molasses and honey.  Oh and there was a layer of dark chocolate at the bottom.  Oh darn.

Nancy, you are my hero.

And I tell you, you could taste the love in that crust.
